School Values
Courage, Compassion, Joy
Welcome to
I am delighted that you are interested in our lovely school.
We are very proud of what we do here. As a small village school, we believe we get to know all of our children as individuals and strive to bring out the best in each of them. We have high expectations of work and behaviour but, as well as working hard, we make sure our children have fun too. Our vision is to 'Feed the mind, nurture the spirit and free the imagination.' By offering the richest curriculum that we can, and inspiring a commitment to our values of courage, compassion and joy, we hope to ensure that our children are well prepared for whatever happens in their lives when they leave us.

Happy Easter everyone Sharks ended our celebratory week with a clear message of hope and joy, sharing the He has risen! They told us about the resurrection and the events that we celebrate on Easter Sunday through poetry. A beautiful representation, thank you Sharks. Enjoy your break everyone
Fantastic achievement to all our children on how wonderful the homework projects were. You all spoke confidently and enthusiastically about your projects. Thank you grown ups for the support that goes into these and for coming to school to give the children the opportunities to share. It was a wonderful afternoon! This was our last homework project open afternoon for the year so watch this space for what's next!
A wonderfully led worship this afternoon, Porpoise Class led us beautifully and respectfully in their retelling of Good Friday. The message was clear and their enthusiasm and performance skills really shone! Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust
Day 2 of Holy Week saw Seahorses lead the school in a worship around the Last Supper. We saw a retelling of the biblical event and the messages that were shared between Jesus and His disciples. It was wonderful to be able to take the retelling to the Church yard today and reflect on what this means for Christians and how we can reflect on this ourselves.
Tuesday was Day 1 of our children leading our Holy Week worships. Preschool, Starfish and Dolphins worked together to lead us and teach us about Palm Sunday. What happened, what it means to Christians and why we still celebrate it. Well done all for the beautiful way you shared the message.
We are so blessed to have the community we do! A huge thank you for sharing the amazing miniature Shetland Ponies with our preschool and Starfish children (and staff) it was so special to have the special Easter visit, seeing them dressed for Easter celebrations and the children then receiving an Easter gift was such a memorable experience! Thank you Charlie! #dorset

An amazing St Patrick's Day at Durweston today with Charlotte leading the school in dance workshops. Each class had an hour long session and resulting in a huge, whole school performance on the playground at the end of the day! The joy it produced was incredible - you can see from the faces. Preschool made a fantastic audience too, clapping into the beat of the drum! We love these events and love to learn about the traditions behind them too.
Don't forget our PTA event on Friday - Easter Bingo! See you here at 7pm for eyes down at 7.30pm Licensed bar and refreshments available.
We hosted a Cross Country event at Durweston this week. We loved seeing everyone participate. Thank you for joining us. A special mention to Riva, Penny and Harvey who were our winners representing the different year groups and well done to all the enthusiastic participants who took part! #BSN #blandford #crosscountry
World Book Day didn't disappoint at Durweston. The buzz throughout the school was so wonderful. The collaboration on creating wooden spoons characters, the Dot story as inspiration for some incredible art work and the general buzz from Drop Everything and Reads going on throughout the day. Wherever WorldBookDay happened for you we hope you had the best day celebrating books #worldbookday #lovetoread #dsat
It never seems enough to just say thank you but we as a school are hugely grateful for the support we've had from our community this week. Thank you for your survey responses, kind words and support you've shown us all. We will share outcomes with you when we are able but for now please hear our gratitude.
