School Values
Courage, Compassion, Joy
Welcome to
I am delighted that you are interested in our lovely school.
We are very proud of what we do here. As a small village school, we believe we get to know all of our children as individuals and strive to bring out the best in each of them. We have high expectations of work and behaviour but, as well as working hard, we make sure our children have fun too. Our vision is to 'Feed the mind, nurture the spirit and free the imagination.' By offering the richest curriculum that we can, and inspiring a commitment to our values of courage, compassion and joy, we hope to ensure that our children are well prepared for whatever happens in their lives when they leave us.

Year 6 did themselves very proudly today during our Rep speeches. They really impressed staff and children with their well thought out, passionate and confident deliveries. The school then voted, showing great levels of democracy and respect. The way year 6 then celebrated each other and supported each other with the results was amazing to see! We look forward to seeing what Year 6 achieve this year if this is how they manage themselves at this stage!
Loving life on a Monday morning
It has been such a wonderful first day, lots of team building and new challenges to tackle whilst getting to know new faces. Our children and staff have shown Courage, Compassion and Joy throughout the day and we can't wait to see what else we can achieve. A really huge well done to our new preschool and Starfish who joined us today, you've done yourselves very proud, you came in beautifully and managed all the new things so fantastically! We are very excited to see you all!
We really do have a talented bunch of children at Durweston and to see them all perform over the last few days has been a privilege! 'Go for Gold' our 2026 production really didn't disappoint. The singing, the dancing, the costumes and the line delivery all brought it together in incredible fashion! Well done all from Seahorses, Sharks and Porpoises - children and staff, fantastic Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust #dorsetschools
Today has been quite the day! To be invited to greet the King and Queen on their visit to Blandford today was quite extraordinary. The 3 that were selected did us proud and represented us beautifully! They were able to shake hands and talk with their Royal Hignesses and thanks to 2 parents that gifted beautiful posies of flowers to present. The quote from the queen was 'wow look at these, absolutely stunning' so it made it really special thank you! It was extremely hot but being amongst the Blandford Schools Network was really special! A snippet from every class today during our Transition Day. The children came in beautifully and are all enjoying having a 'day in the life' of their new classes. Every class has such a calm, wonderful feel and lots of smiling faces which is always the best news to share!
We wanted to share exciting news this morning, we have 4 chicks arrived who look absolutely beautiful and very cute! We will share with the children so they all get a chance to meet them
