Safeguarding Policies

Our School’s Commitment:

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all of our pupils. Each pupil’s welfare is of paramount importance. We adopt and maintain a culture of 'It could happen here' and always act on concerns with the best interests of the children at the core of every decision we make.

Please find useful information on what we do to keep your children safe in school, how we encourage them to make safe choices and become responsible for their own safety and the safety of others.

We have also included some information that you may find useful at home as a parent or carer.

Keeping Children Safe in Education

Everyone at Durweston CE Primary School who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play in safeguarding children. School staff are particularly important in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children as we are in a position to identify concerns early and provide help for children.  School staff form part of the wider safeguarding system for children to prevent concerns from escalating. We will work with Children’s Social Care, the Police, Health services and other relevant agencies to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm.

Operation Encompass

Operation Encompass helps police and schools work together to provide emotional and practical help for children.  Police will inform the ‘key adult’ within school if they have been called to an incident of domestic abuse, where there are children in the household, before registration the next day.

For all of you out there...

If you're an adult experiencing domestic abuse, there are organisations that can help.

Private Fostering

Are you looking after someone else's child?

Is someone else looking after your child?

If that person is not a close family member this could be a 'private fostering arrangement'. Is this arrangement set to last more than 28 days?

Stop... Think... Act...
